Dear Self,
I have discovered that if I have a lot of writing to do, then I should do it first, and ‘eat that frog’ as Brian Tracy says. Grab my laptop, switch off the wireless, get in my comfy armchair and just write on a blank word document. By doing it before email, I’m less distracted, and my mind wanders less.
For example, this morning I wrote a testimonial, an informative article for Espired Membership, a case study update for Espired Membership, and this article in 40 minutes of concentrated writing.
If any ideas come up, I write them in a separate notepad document, and being disconnected from wireless makes a ’server not found’ error come up when I automatically load up Google to ‘check something out’.
Also a big cup of water next to me, keeps me hydrated and thinking clear.
This works great… I must do this everyday. But I’ve also discovered 2 things.
1) After a hour of writing, I start to get antsy, and want to go do something else… will try and finish sales page and see how long I can last. Either that or I need regular breaks as well.
2) If my wife is working on her computer, she will talk… which distracts me. Note to self… get quieter wife ;).
BTW self, you look great today… that workout that you did today, makes you look and feel great… keep up the good work.
From Me.

Yep it’s a new ‘column’ I am trying. Little tongue in cheek, but something I would like to write about what works best for me.
Enjoy,
