I was going to call this new post "Just Because You Build It Doesn’t Mean They Will Come" but I went with "StumbleUpon Traffic Sucks" instead because that was exactly what I said when I launched my new site http://www.SleepWinks.com just over a week ago.

I did a pretty quiet launch… Did a couple of blog posts (one here and one at My Mind Shift Blog ) and then posted it at a few social bookmarking sites.

No emails, no affiliates.

And the results were disappointing to say the least.

Approximately 30 sign ups and no viralness (will update you on this one in the next week or so).

Did I get traffic? Yes I did… I got some. I got over 150 hits from StumbleUpon… Guess how many signed up? Maybe 2 maximum… could be less.

That was when I said… "StumbleUpon Traffic Sucks"

I know what you are thinking… "Your squeeze page just isn’t converting, Paul"

And you are absolutely right. For non-targeted, ’self improvement’ stumbleuponers my site does not convert at all, maybe 1% if I was lucky.

But this is where I get excited.

I went away for the weekend and enjoyed a nice camping trip… The End ;).

Kidding… Well actually I did go, and had a fantastic long weekend, perfect weather, cold enough for a fire, but warm enough to swim. Friend brought his speed boat as well… yeah it was great, thanks for asking ;).

Anyway this week when I got home, actually just 2 days ago now… I sent out an email to my MyMindShift affiliates saying I had a new affiliate program. A few of them signed up.

When I woke up the next morning (3am… yep I’m still doing it)… I discovered that my email exploded with notifications from Aweber saying people had signed up to my list.

Within 42 minutes of one affiliate signing up to my affiliate page (http://www.sleepwinks.com/affiliates ), I had the first subscriber sign up to the optin via his affiliate link (I can tell because his Id is automatically embedded for lifetime commissions) and when I woke up 4 hours later he had already sent over 140 subscribers and they are still coming in every few minutes 2 days later. I loved watching it.

So far he has sent over 370 subscribers with a conversion rate of over 68.5% (didn’t you just say this page didn’t convert… WRONG! ).

Moral of the story…

All you do is add a little snippet of code to your index page, and then it does the rest.

Notice that my top 10 keywords make up for 40% of my traffic, but my long tail keywords make up for 60% of my traffic.

Very eye opening… and let me tell you that those long tail keywords are more targeted and would result in a higher conversion rate (can’t prove that yet because XConversions is not working properly yet).

3 Way Links Work Amazingly Well For Ranking In The Search Engines…

Disclaimer:- I am not an SEO expert… I am just an ordinary Joe that has found something that works amazingly well.

I have been meaning to write this post and mail it for over 2 weeks but have just been too busy volunteering all week and trying to launch a new site.

In fact I have had a burning desire to write this post because my search engine rankings just exploded.

Don’t expect it to take months to rank well in the search engines but on the other hand don’t expect it over night either. In my experience for the less competitive keywords you can rank on the first page in a week for higher competitive ones it took just over a month.

Nothing… Nothing… Nothing… Then BANG! My site is rising in the search engines rapidly for these specific keywords.

Here is how I did it…

I added my new site http://www.MyMindShift.com (doing fantastically well btw, people just love these amazing audios and I am getting amazing testimonials) to two 3 Way Linking services.

Linktator 2 & 3WayLinks.net <= Both outstanding services by the way, you set it up once and from then on it is totally automated, adding back links to your site with your specific hyperlink keyword text on autopilot.

Well with these 2 services I targeted the most competitive keyword phrases.

And here are the results for the 6th of April, 2008 (a couple of weeks old now but the rankings have been holding well even though Google dances them everyday).

This keyword has 904,000 competition in Google, yet I have been ranking on the first page almost since week one. The reason is that when you make the keyword specific “binaural mp3″ it has only 2080 competition. Any person with basic SEO knowledge can rank for that no problem.

Notice that results on this one…. very interesting. Was 73, three weeks ago and then steady… steady she climbs for a one word keyword (1 word keywords are not very targeted and I don’t recommend that you target them). Over 1.9 million competitors.

Now for the one I am stoked about.

Binaural Beats

For weeks it was nothing, then it appeared and then it exploded in the search engines.
Competition is 223,000 and 148,000 for “binaural beats” so it is a competitive keyword.

Dave Wooding took this screenshot for me when it was in Position 4 and I was getting a lot of traffic from that one keyword (still am).

Here is another very interesting one because I am not targeting it specifically.

Page 6 results and then BANG it explodes!

It is the same for my other competitive keyword.

Nothing… Nothing… Nothing… For a whole month and then BANG! It appears and rises rapidly.

So in conclusion, I attribute all my SEO success to the powerful services of Linktator 2 and 3WayLinks.net. Results may not happen over night but they will happen and they can just explode over night.

As you can see it had nothing at the start of March. When I launched it grew. When I found some JV parters it exploded to just under 600 visitors a day and now is leveling off to 300 visitors per day just from SEO and Adwords.
