You’re so excited that you can hardly contain yourself. In fact you’re so excited that you are jumping up and down and telling everybody about your great new idea that is going to make you an absolute fortune.

You’ve done your research…

You know what needs to be done…

You set yourself a realistic deadline…

Everyday you are working towards your goal… but things keep on popping up. Finally you have 48 hours before your deadline and you still have to write the sales page, you still have to set up your email lists, you still have to do this… and this and this.

A sickness starts forming in the pit of your stomach as you realize that there is no possible way for you to keep your deadline. You are more than a little bit disappointed, you are devastated and you lose all motivation for the project…. and decide to go get a big portion of comfort food as you sulk on the couch and watch TV (Ok I made that last part up… nobody does that ;) ).

Put your hand up if it has happened to you.

It has happened with just about every project that I have ever launched…

Something has always held me up…

There has always been just one more thing to do…

There is something so obvious that I have missed and just can’t possibly get it done in time.

I believe it happens to everybody (even John Reese ;) ) so don’t feel bad about it… don’t lose your motivation to keep on pressing on and DON’T EVER Give Up!

But let’s get practical…

How do we keep those deadlines?

In my experience as successful internet marketer who has launched many products and services over the last few years, I have discovered a few techniques that will help you keep your deadlines every time.

1.    Plan Ahead…

Before you decide to launch any product or service and set a deadline you must know what needs to be done first.  So grab a pen and a piece of paper and start writing down all the tasks that need to be done… EVERYTHING… not just the obvious ones like sales pages… but launch emails and JV partner contacting and autoresponder setup etc. All tasks need to be prioritized and you need to estimate how long it is going to take to complete each step.

The ones that take the longest or that you are outsourcing… you should get them done as soon as possible and put them at the start of your list.

Hint:- Create a detailed timeline of your complete project.

2.    Don’t Procrastinate…

This one is a huge problem… because you have set yourself a deadline which is a long way in the future… you don’t have any pressure to get your work done because… say it with me… “I can do it tomorrow” but that’s wrong, Wrong, WRONG!

If you want to keep your deadlines then you need to be working hard, right from the start. Set yourself mini deadlines… to keep the pressure on.

If you are outsourcing your work… don’t put off replying especially if they live in another time zone, because that can mean another day lost. Reply promptly and follow up your employees to ensure that the work is getting done.

3.    Do It Yourself…

I love outsourcing and I always hire other people to do as much of my work for me as I can. But one thing I have learnt is that it normally takes twice as long getting somebody else to do it for you… because you have to explain what you want… then they go off and do it… and then you have to see if they have done it right…. and then if it’s wrong you have to get them to do it again… or just do it yourself.

So if you are on a tight deadline… then do as much as you can yourself… that way the buck stops with you ;).

Follow these 3 tips and you are sure to hit your deadline every time.

All the best to your online success,

Sincerely,
